At SCREWTECH, we have the unique experience and products to meet the precise needs of the most demanding material handling applications in aircraft wing processing.
The following components are used in aircraft manufacturing handling systems:
Aircraft wing treatment
In this case, the wings are transmitted along a line. At the machining and assembly station, the oversized and very heavy wings are brought in and tilted 90 degrees. The enormous size and weight of the wings make the job particularly challenging.
Round Roller Bearings
Round roller bearings have the strength and precision to transport entire wings along the production line. Unlike most linear bearings, Round Way is very forgiving. For example, bearings can be transferred from one shaft to another without loss of precision, even if they are not perfectly aligned. This makes it possible to build large systems quickly and easily.
Inclined station transport platform
To get the wing in and out of the tilt station, the wing supports are brought onto a transport platform. The platform uses a set of Round Way bearings and access to and from the tilt station is via a ball screw assembly containing a planetary gearbox. This combination allows the wing to be correctly positioned with sufficient precision for machining.
Tilt station with jack screw
Once the tilt station transport platform is properly positioned in the tilt station, three worm gear jacks tilt the wing and platform 90 degrees. In this position, machining and assembly work on the wing can be performed. Screw jacks are easy to synchronize, have high precision and efficiency, and have proven to be very strong and reliable.
